How to set a default page for your website

When You type http://localhost/ in your browser. Browser send request to IIS and start searching for the default page of website in C:\\inetpub\wwwroot directory
inetpub wwwroot files
 and execute the default page welcome.htm [default page in IIS7]

But if you want to change this default page for localhost, do the following
Step-1:Open IIS(Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->IIS Manager) 
Step-2: Configure IIS  by setting physical path to C:\inetpub\wwwroot

Step-3: Open a notepad file
Step-4: Copy and paste the following page

Step-5: Save the file as index.html
Step-6: Add index.html to C:\\inetpub\wwwroot folder.

Step-7: Now browse  http://localhost/
